New York, 1931. Tallest towers on earth, loudest streets, a band playing behind every third laundry door. An airship crosses the Battery at four in the morning running dark, with no markings and no owner willing to claim her, and the paper gives it two column inches on page nine.

Third floor above a shopfront, past the brass plaque and the worst coffee in the five boroughs, eight men and women are pulling on their coats.

The Guild has been sending them out for a hundred and sixty years. Tonight it sends them out again.
